The basic language exam for major and minor programmes in Scandinavian Studies bachelor programme (BBN-SKD/N/S18-001 /BBN-SKD/N/S-001/MIN) consists of two parts: a written and an oral one. The partial results of the exam are not recorded in the exam report, only the final result is recorded on the day of the oral exam. A prerequisite for the basic exam is the completion of the language courses with a minimum of sufficient (2) grades. For the oral test, the written part of the test must be passed with a minimum of sufficient (2) grade. The basic exam is a prerequisite for the continuation of a major or minor in Scandinavian Studies.

BASIC EXAM, WRITTEN PART - SPRING SEMESTER 2025

This year the written basic exam will be in the form of an attendance test. On the day of the exam, please arrive at the location at least 5-10 minutes before the start of the exam.

The written test is 150 minutes long and consists of five parts: a) listening - b) reading - c) translation - d) essay - e) other language tasks.

Please make sure that you write the exam with a blue ballpoint pen or fountain pen to ensure that your test is valid. You may use a pencil to make a draft of any of the exercises, but only answers written in ink will be taken into account for grading. We will provide a drafting sheet at the exam, but it is not compulsory: you can always correct your answers written in ink at any time before submitting the test by crossing out the answers and marking them to make the final answer clear. The use of dictionaries is not allowed throughout the test, and the use of mobile phones and other smart devices, pre-written notes, etc. is prohibited. Use of such aids will result in automatic disqualification from the test.

In order to pass the written part of the test, candidates must obtain a minimum of 61% of the total grade.

Students have to enroll for the exam in NEPTUN.

 

BASIC EXAM, ORAL PART - SPRING SEMESTER 2025

The oral exam takes place in front of a committee, in the Scandinavian language of the candidate's choice. The exam consists of three sections. During the first part, the candidate presents a topic of the candidate's choice (a phenomenon from Scandinavian cultures, a famous personality, event, work, etc.) in a few minutes - the candidate can prepare the topic in advance; the second part of the exam consists of a presentation of a topic chosen from the topics listed below or a guided discussion on the topic; the third part of the exam consists of describing a randomly selected picture, which the candidate has to present in their main Scandinavian language. The oral exam lasts approximately 20 minutes.
